Countries in Crisis

March 2022
Stowe Valley MAT raised over £6350 in aid of the humanitarian crises in Ukraine and Afghanistan. All proceeds will go to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) and be matched by the government so we have actually raised twice as much.

Well-being team update
Caroline Bradburn

The past couple of weeks the well-being team have been planning a fun activity to involve the whole year group as our first ever activity and bring some fun and excitement to the sixth form area.

We based our first wellbeing activity on the theme of Halloween as it is an upcoming holiday, we thought it would be a great idea to do a trick or treat hunt. Our group worked together as a team to purchase Halloween treats and accessories, we bought goody bags and packaged up the treats into 50 bags. Part of our team worked on designing tags in which we then hid in and around the sixth form area for students to find, once they found their tag they could then cash it in for a Halloween prize!

The year 12 trick or treat was a great success and all goody bags were claimed within 15 minutes, it was great to see everyone so keen on getting involved with the activity and telling each other jokes that were in the bags. There was lots of positivity running through sixth form, it has definitely given the well-being team future ideas for what we can do next to spread joy and improve everyone/s wellbeing!

Aisling, the chair of the well-being team

The well-being team have made an excellent start to the year! Their enthusiasm and hard work each week has been amazing to see and they have come up with lots of great ideas for the year already. The team wanted to plan something for the first half-term to give the year 12 students an up lift so thought Halloween was the perfect opportunity to do this. Each member of the group contributed something different to the Halloween goody bags which was reflected in the success of the event. This included sweets, tags, jokes and a half-term safety leaflet handout to go with the bags. We hope this helped to spread a bit of positivity through year 12 for their final day of the half term. We have lots of things planned for after half-term, so watch this space! Also a big thank you to Ms Allen in reprographics for carving two beautiful pumpkins to go with the bags as we gave them out.
