Outstanding GCSE Success as Myton Students Achieve Results Well Above National Averages

Myton School is delighted to celebrate another year of exceptional GCSE results, with students once again achieving significantly stronger outcomes than their peers nationally.

This year's results mark a particularly significant milestone for the school, with Myton achieving its best-ever performance in GCSE English and Mathematics at Grade 5 and above. More than 60% of students attained a Grade 5 or higher in both English and Maths, representing an outstanding achievement and reflecting the hard work, resilience and ambition of students and staff alike.

The success extends across the cohort, with students achieving an impressive Attainment 8 score of above 50, meaning that, on average, Myton students attained the equivalent of a Grade 5 across their GCSE subjects, a strong pass and a testament to the school's commitment to academic excellence.

Exceptional Individual Achievement

Among the highest-performing students this year were Adam Greenberg (6 grade 9s and 3 grade 8s), George Guest (6 Grade 9s and 3 Grade 8s) and Mia Taplin (6 Grade 9s and 2 Grade 8s). Particular congratulations also go to David Butnariu and Teresa Romy, each of whom achieved Grades 7-9 in all nine subjects studied, an outstanding accomplishment demonstrating exceptional dedication and academic excellence.

Record Number of Top Grades

This year, Myton students achieved a remarkable 109 Grade 9s in total. Grade 9 is awarded only to the highest-performing students nationally, with typically around 5% of entries receiving this top grade in each subject.

Particularly strong performances included:

• 17 Grade 9s in English Literature

• 15 Grade 9s in Mathematics

• 12-13 Grade 9s in each of the Science subjects

These results highlight both the breadth and depth of achievement across the school and reflect the collective efforts of students, families and staff.

Marie Orton, the new Headteacher of Myton School, said: “I am incredibly proud of this year's cohort and all they have achieved. These outstanding results are the culmination of years of hard work, determination and perseverance, supported by dedicated staff and families who have championed our students every step of the way."
