On Thursday 6th July 2017 the Year 9 Rounders team represented Southam College and the Central Warwickshire area in the County School Games Level 3 Competition. The girls took part in a Rounders tournament which consisted of 15 other schools across the Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire areas.
The tournament started with the girls playing in the group stages where they competed against Higham Lane School; Coleshill School and Stratford Grammar School. The girls played brilliantly winning two and losing one game by half a rounder and therefore came second overall in their group.
As result of coming second the girls were playing against all the other schools who finished second in their groups to fight for 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th position overall. The other schools included St Martins School; Lode Heath School and Blue Coats School. With shorter innings due to time constraints the girls risked everything; they produced some superb batting and kept the fielding tight as possible. The Year 9 Team did all that they could after a long day in the heat and managed to win one game, draw one game and lose one game. This meant that Southam College achieved 6th Place overall out of 15 other schools in the whole of Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire area. This was a brilliant achievement!
'Well done to all the girls played, they did Southam College, the Central Area and most of all themselves extremely proud. Thank you for a wonderful and exciting day of competition and performance. Miss Evans'
